Assistant Professor in the Arts – Hamilton College

The Arts Departments (Art, Dance and Movement Studies, Music, and Theatre) at Hamilton College invite applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2020. We seek a practicing artist with expertise in interactive media, and/or integrated media, and/or performance and technology to teach courses that would mostly be cross-listed in two or more Arts departments and would contribute to the Digital Arts interdisciplinary program. In particular, we are seeking candidates whose work is inherently interdisciplinary and who can help foster collaboration among Arts faculty through digital artistic practice and pedagogy, contribute to interdisciplinary study in the arts, and help provide our students with foundational skills in the digital arts. This position is part of Hamilton College’s goal of hiring a cluster of additional faculty for the strategic Digital Hamilton initiative.

We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate their experience in teaching or working with diverse student populations. Your cover letter should address the ways in which you would further the College’s goal of building a diverse educational environment. An MFA or PhD or DMA in an appropriate field is required and candidates should demonstrate an active creative practice and research agenda. The expertise of the individual we hire will determine the department the new hire will join. The teaching load for this position is four courses during the first year and five courses thereafter and requires institutional service including academic advising of undergraduate students after the first year.
