Assistant Professor of Graphic Design and Motion Graphics at West Virginia Wesleyan College

ABOUT THE POSITION:
West Virginia Wesleyan Art Department seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Graphic Design and Motion Graphics. A terminal degree (MFA) is required. A minimum of two years teaching experience (beyond TA) in addition to professional experience is desirable for this 3/3 load. Ability to teach foundational courses - such as digital photography - in addition to beginning through advanced graphic design courses, is essential. Candidates should have expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Premiere and After Effects. Knowledge of digital photography, motion graphics, and video production are required. This faculty member will be conversant in graphic design history and critical theory.

A successful candidate will maintain a professional practice through freelance work and an active national presence (conference presentations, publications of work, design competitions, etc). The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, flexible, organized and responsive; strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must.

In addition to teaching and research responsibilities, the faculty is responsible for overseeing the NASAD accreditation process for a new BFA in Graphic Design. This position will collaborate with other art faculty on program development and growth, as well as curricular development. This individual will oversee/advise a AIGA student chapter. Other service includes advising and mentoring students, recruitment of new students, assessment, and maintaining office hours. Service to the college in the form of committee membership and participation are expected starting the second year of employment. This position includes a private office, and access to competitive college funds for creative activity, research, and professional development.

The Art Department at West Virginia Wesleyan College provides a liberal arts program for students seeking a degree in an art or design related field.
