This April at Texas Woman’s University, the North Texas Digital Fabrication Group will host “Humanizing the Digital”, a symposium that will consider ways in which new technologies are reconnecting us with our humanity. In conjunction, there will be a juried exhibition of student artwork incorporating the use of these new processes. The purpose of the exhibition will be to show the range of potential expression made available by digital fabrication, especially in ways that relate to the theme of the symposium. February 1 Deadline The New Media Caucus (NMC) invites applications for The Judson-Morrissey Excellence in New Media Award: Conference Attendance Scholarship for Students of Color. The scholarship provides $1100 for a student of color working in the field of new media art (artist, practitioner, history and/criticism) to attend the College Art Association Conference (Los Angeles, CA Feb. 21-24, 2018). The 3rd annual North Texas Digital Fabrication Symposium (NTDFS) highlights the creative potential for digital fabrication tools and techniques to reconnect us to our humanity. Contrary to society’s worst fear of the dystopian impact of technology, innovative and creative uses of digital fabrication open up possibilities for reconsidering the way humans learn, make and connect through the creative arts. The NTDFS is intended to be a forum for considering the hybrid, interdisciplinary and creative futures that lead us back to the complex imperfection of our humanity.

CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS: NMC Showcase during CAA 2018 in Los Angeles

The ninth annual NMC Showcase will be held during CAA 2018 on Thursday February 22th   at 701 West Cesar E. Chavez Avenue, Suite 203, Los Angeles 90012.

The NMC showcase is a series of rapid-fire presentations by 16 NMC members (6 minute presentations). It has proven to be a great forum to get to know the work of a number of fellow members in a lively atmosphere and a great way to present your work to like-minded individuals.  Several spots are reserved for graduate students currently enrolled in an MFA or PHD program.

Call for Video, Film, and New Media at VisArts

Videos not in excess of 15 minutes are requested for inclusion in Frame & Frequency IV, an international video art exchange, presented as a series of screenings and exhibitions held concurrently at VisArts in Rockville, MD, just outside Washington D.C. and in Medellín, Colombia at the PLECTO Galeria from Friday, January 19 through February 18, 2018.
