Artist in Residence, Design and New Media

The Department of Art and Design at Missouri State University invites applications for an Artist-In-Residence, non-tenure track, 1-year position, with potential for ongoing renewal. We seek a candidate with the ability to teach design and new media skills to undergraduate majors. The candidate should be able to teach all levels of Graphic Design and New Media with specific strengths in some combination of the following: creative coding, design foundations, animation, motion graphics, web design and development, 3D design, procedural and generative processes, user experience and human centered design, immersive realities, human-computer interaction, data visualization, usability testing, digital imaging. The successful candidate will teach four courses per semester (4/4) and foster a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that engages diverse learners.

Housed in the 88,000 square foot Brick City complex, the Department of Art and Design offers students and faculty a dedicated creative environment set within the larger Idea Commons urban innovation park in downtown Springfield, Missouri. The facilities center on multiple digital and traditional studios, including both PC and Mac computer labs equipped with scanners and printers, as well as a letterpress studio, a full printmaking studio (intaglio, relief printing, lithography, silkscreen, risograph printing), photography facilities (film and digital), large format printers, laser cutters, 3D printers and scanners, a motion capture and virtual reality studio, 3D RenderFarm, and other resources.
