Assistant Teaching Professor of Art (Digital Media)

The School of Art seeks applicants for a contract faculty, Assistant Teaching Professor of Art (Digital Media) to teach a range of courses in the Digital and Time Based Art curriculum at basic through advanced levels with the possibility of teaching foundations or specialty courses.

The School of Art at Ball State has forty-nine full-time faculty and offers state-of-the-art facilities serving over 500 undergraduate majors as well as a growing graduate program. Programs at the BA, BS, BFA and MFA levels include animation, art education, art history, ceramics, drawing, glass, metals, painting, photography and intermedia arts, printmaking, sculpture, and visual communication (graphic design). Housed in the Art and Journalism building, School of Art students enjoy over 57,000 square feet of world-class facilities, a nationally ranked animation program, the Atrium Gallery, and the Glick Center for Glass. Students and faculty work closely with David Owsley Museum of Art on campus, among the finest university art collections in the nation. Minimum qualifications: Master of Fine Arts degree in Intermedia Arts, Time Based Media, Film/Video, Media Art, or similar appropriate concentration from an accredited college or university. Record of successful undergraduate and/or graduate level teaching experience at a college level. Studio practice and teaching that demonstrate skill in any combination of the following: Experimental and hybrid applications of digital and electronic time based media art. Interactive media, creative coding, physical computing, web based art, sound art, video installation, experimental film and/or animation, augmented/virtual reality, 3-D modeling or digital fabrication. A strong and active record of exhibitions or artistic accomplishments. Apple platform expertise and experience with the Adobe Creative Suite from an accredited college or university.

Candidates must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred qualifications: Two years of teaching experience at the college level. A broad knowledge of the history and theory of Media Art.
