BACKGROUND
Gwyan Rhabyt, President Emeritus of the New Media Caucus is organizing a proposal that will be submitted to the International Symposium on Electronic Arts (ISEA) call for panels for the 2012 ISEA Conference which will be held in Albuquerque. This is a call for Papers/Presentations for those interested joining the New Media Caucus panel proposal to ISEA.

PROPOSED PANEL TITLE
Creativity and the Future of Visualization

PANEL DESCRIPTION
While the power of Scientific and Information Visualization are improving with quantative improvements in processing speeds and the growing availability of new datasets, these are not the only limitations to revealing significant patterns in data. Increasingly SciVis and InfoVis are supplemented with ArtVis, in which statistically and code savvy artists and designers interpret data with more sophisticated aesthetics and broader experimentation. Will this present a significant shift to practitioners of SciVis and InfoVis, or is it only a sideshow? Panelists will present their work and connect it to the debate over the future of visualization.
