CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS: NMC Showcase during CAA 2020 Chicago
The eleventh annual New Media Caucus Showcase will be held during CAA 2020 on Thursday evening, February 13th at Bar Louie in Chicago, IL from 8-10pm.
The NMC showcase is a series of rapid-fire presentations by 10 NMC members (6-minute presentations). It has proven to be an excellent forum to get to know the work of fellow new media artists and scholars in a lively atmosphere. Several spots are reserved for graduate students currently enrolled in MFA or PhD programs. Due to the short presentation slots, presenters may only present one work, rather than a retrospective of their careers.
Starting this year, presentations are chosen by application rather than by lottery. We ask you to submit a brief description of the project you will present, along with a relevant URL to work samples. We also ask you to submit a brief statement outlining how your work addresses issues of diversity and relates to the NMC diversity statement (see below).
We publish a CAA conference edition of Media-N, the Journal of the New Media Caucus, that will include documentation of the NMC Showcase. Selected participants are asked to submit a statement and work samples.
This event is free and open to the public. No CAA registration is required. It is generously hosted by Bar Louie.
HOW TO APPLY
Presenters are chosen by application. Only members that have not participated in the showcase in the past three years are eligible. Presenters must be available to speak in-person, IRL: no remote presentations are permissible.
