CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS: NMC Showcase during CAA 2025 (Online + In-Person)
The annual New Media Caucus Showcase will be held during CAA 2025, online and in-person, on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 8:00-9:30 pm EST. Submissions are being accepted until 11:59 pm EST on Friday, December 20th, 2024.
The NMC showcase is a series of rapid-fire, 6-minute presentations by NMC members. This year participants will be able to present online or in-person at a New York City location to be announced soon. It has proven to be an excellent forum to get to know the work of other new media artists and scholars in a lively atmosphere. Several spots are reserved for graduate students currently enrolled in MFA or Ph.D. programs. Due to the short presentation slots, presenters may only present one work, rather than a retrospective of their careers.
Presentations will be chosen by application. We ask you to submit a brief description of the project you will present, along with a relevant URL to work samples. We also ask you to submit a brief statement outlining how your work relates to the NMC mission and/or diversity statements (see below).
Selected participants will be required to become NMC Members through the NMC’s Pay-What-You-Can membership program. No one will be turned away for lack of funding.
This event is free and open to the public. No CAA registration is required.
HOW TO APPLY
Presenters are chosen by application. Only members that have not participated in the showcase in the past three years are eligible.
PROCESS and IMPORTANT DATES
- DEADLINE: The deadline for submissions is Friday December 20th, 2024, 11:59 pm EST
- SELECTION NOTIFICATION: Submissions will be reviewed by members of the New Media Caucus’ Events and Exhibitions Committee. Selected presentations will be notified by Friday, January 17th, 2025
- CONFIRMATION: Presenters must confirm their participation by Friday, January 24th, 2025
- EVENT: The showcase will take place online (a link will be provided) and in-person (location to be announced) Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 8:00-9:30 pm EST
MISSION STATEMENT: The New Media Caucus (NMC) is an international non-profit association formed to promote the development and understanding of new media art. We represent and serve: artists, designers, practitioners, historians, theorists, educators, students, and scholars. Recognizing new media art to be inherently interdisciplinary, multimodal, and evolving, we support and advance a wide range of inquiry to catalyze further evolution of the field.
