Clinical Assistant Professor of Multimedia Arts (Studio Arts Program), Loyola Marymount University

The Studio Arts Program at Loyola Marymount University invites applications for a Full-time (One-year renewable appointment) in the area of Multimedia Arts beginning in fall 2019. The ideal candidate is an outstanding interactive technology and digital media practitioner, scholar and educator who demonstrates the ability to engage a diverse community of learners at the highest levels of artistic endeavor and critical thinking from foundation to senior level courses.

The qualified candidate should be proficient in 2D and 3D art/design practices, including time-based form, interactive arts or UX design. The successful candidate should be able to teach undergraduate courses in digital media/transmedia, creative coding, and should have experience in project-based learning to develop coursework in the areas of computer-mediated communication and emerging media production.

The preferred candidate has a hybrid academic background with a wide-range of expertise, including experience in three or more of the following emerging technologies areas: immersive media, physical digital integration, 3D design and animation, game design, mixed/virtual/augmented reality, interactive narrative, user experience/interface design, data visualization, programming for emerging technologies and mobile development.
The ideal applicant will provide evidence of successful college teaching experience and a record of scholarly/creative productivity. An MFA and 2 or more years of successful college level teaching experience are required at the time of hire.

The selected candidate will have a typical teaching load of 4 classes, or a teaching load of 3 courses and meaningful service to the Multimedia Arts program equivalent to one course assisting with student reviews, advising, internships, projects and exhibitions.
