Department Chairperson (Associate or Full Professor) – Department of Art & Design, University of Wisconsin Whitewater

The Department of Art and Design in the College of Arts and Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a chairperson for the department who will qualify for appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor in any of the Art & Design related disciplines housed in the College, including Media Arts and Game Development, beginning August 2019. This is a full-time position consisting of chairing a complex department (50%) and teaching of undergraduate courses in relevant area, research, and service to the university and community (50%). Research area and teaching expertise should complement that of existing faculty.

In addition to chairing the Department, the successful candidate will be able to teach courses relevant to their expertise and possibly, the College’s interdisciplinary introductory general education course, World of the Arts. The candidate will also be expected to pursue an active research agenda that engages undergraduate students, results in publications or other vehicles of creative activity and contributes to advancing the department, university, the profession, and society. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to contribute to an inclusive learning environment for our students through teaching and mentorship while advocating for diversity and meaningful inclusion in all areas of Art and Design, including Media Arts and Game Development.

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is part of the 26-campus University of Wisconsin System. Located in a community of 14,622 residents near the scenic Kettle Moraine State Forest in southeastern Wisconsin, Whitewater is within convenient driving distance to the metropolitan areas of Milwaukee, Madison, and Chicago.
