Interactive Designer Intern
Job Description: USRA is an independent, nonprofit research corporation where the combined efforts of in-house talent and university-based expertise merge to advance space science and technology. The NASA Visualization Explorer team is looking for a talented interactive designer intern with a strong interest in mobile apps at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. The successful candidate will work as an integral team member of the software development group during fall 2014. The intuitive and easy to use app is currently available for all iOS devices. It features data visualizations and conceptual animations created by NASA Goddard Space Flight Center’s Scientific Visualization Studio, the Conceptual Image Lab and other partners such as Earth Observatory and Science@NASA to name a few. The intern will collaborate with the software development team members and will prepare and deliver design concepts, mockups and fully realized assets required for the next generation of the app.
The successful candidate is:
- Proficient with design packages
- Skillful in visualizing mockups and user interface assets
- Flexible to adapt and scale design concepts to meet technical criteria, project needs and deadlines
- Passionate about new technologies and willing to investigate new approaches
- A team player and enjoys working with an interdisciplinary group of people
- Interested in developing unique storytelling experiences
- Organized and detail oriented
- Knowledge of Xcode and experience in data and/or information visualization are a plus.
