New Media and Design Instructor, Full-time, Tenure-line

Position Description:

Full-time, tenure-line faculty position focusing on new media and design will be available August 2022 on the Jamestown campus with the potential for teaching assignments at other sites. In collaboration with colleagues from fine arts and communication, this person will shape the future of the college’s program and course offerings in the areas of moving image design, photography, videography, and more. Applicants should address their ability to teach or develop courses from among the following: 4D design, animation, photography, TV studio production, digital painting, visual rhetoric / media communication, digital storytelling, graphic design. The ideal candidate will guide decision-making regarding the acquisition of discipline-specific equipment and software while also facilitating collaborative, interdepartmental use of these. This person will help prepare students for transfer and/or employment, including mentoring student interns working on a range of media and design projects with regional businesses.

Qualifications:

Required: Master’s degree in digital media or similar field, OR a B.F.A in art or design with a master’s degree (or higher) in a relevant field. Expertise in the Adobe suite (for Mac and PC).

Preferred: M.F.A. in design, digital media, or new media. Experience teaching in a community college setting. Expertise in Blender. Working familiarity with a three-camera TV studio. Active engagement in creative and/or scholarly work.
