The New Media Caucus (NMC) invites applications for The Judson-Morrissey Excellence in New Media Award: Conference Attendance Scholarship for Students of Color. The scholarship fund provides three $500 awards for students of color working in the field of new media art (artist, practitioner, history and/criticism) to attend the College Art Association Conference’s online programming, February 10-13, 2021. Given the virtual nature of this year’s conference, the remaining scholarship amount after conference costs will go towards supporting the production of the recipients’ scholarly work. Awardees will be featured in a NMC Header/Footer Gallery exhibition in Spring 2021. They will also be asked to contribute an NMC blog post reflecting on their experiences at CAA; view last years’ posts here.
This award is consistent with the vision of the NMC and our commitment to cultivating inclusivity within the new media arts community. One goal of the scholarship is to facilitate connections with the New Media Caucus community of artists and scholars at the CAA annual conference.
Applicants must provide a 600 word (maximum) letter of application, a short biography (100-200 words), and a work sample (artwork or writing). The application is due at 11:59pm on January 24, 2021.
