The Department of Art and Art History welcomes applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Video Art at the assistant professor level beginning fall term 2020. Artistic practice and teaching specialties may include experimental film/video, animation, documentary, and other time-based and/or hybrid media rooted in the moving image, such as performance, installation, and augmented reality. Applicants should be prepared to teach beginning and advanced courses in video art as a studio practice, including an introductory studio course spanning theory and practice across artistic media, advanced projects in studio art and capstone senior projects. The Assistant Professor in Video Art will advise senior studio art theses, and contribute to the interdisciplinary Film and Media Studies concentration. The successful candidate will also be responsible for overseeing the department’s video art facilities, will assume a leadership role in envisioning the video art curriculum, and will be an integral contributor to the programming in Golden Auditorium, a state-of-the-art 150 seat theater with 35mm, 16mm, and digital projection capacity. All faculty are expected to participate in all-university programs including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum. Completion of MFA or equivalent terminal degree is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire. The teaching load is five courses per year.
