Description: The School of Visual Arts at The Pennsylvania State University (University Park Campus) invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor of Digital Arts and Media Design beginning August 2020. This is a full-time (nine-month/multi-year renewable), non-tenure track position. We seek a colleague whose teaching and research interests include foundational topics in digital arts and media design studio practice including principles of art and media design, contemporary art and design concepts, tools and technologies. We are particularly interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their teaching and research, to the Digital Arts and Media Design curriculum and majors.

Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will work with existing faculty to help shape the undergraduate experience of the digital arts and design majors with primary focus on foundational digital arts and media design instruction including 2D, 3D and 4D design, modeling and animation, foundational scripting, interactive and web design, concept art, prototyping and game development fundamentals. In addition to instruction in digital art and design foundational studios, the successful candidate may teach additional courses related to their primary area of expertise, participate in the guidance and assessment of program majors, independent studies, internships, and advise on capstone thesis projects.

Qualifications: A Graduate degree (MA, MFA, Ph.D., or equivalent) in Digital Art, Digital Design, New Media, or related field. Extensive college-level teaching experience required. Demonstrated commitment to professional activity, knowledgeable of digital art and design and new media technologies as applied to critical and contemporary practice, and a thorough knowledge of contemporary art/design, theory and criticism is expected. Demonstrated commitment to inter and cross disciplinary collaboration in teaching and research within the College and the University is preferred. You must be fluent in English and have a strong commitment to keep up to date with the latest developments in the field of digital arts and media design.

Rank and Salary: Assistant Teaching Professor, Fixed-Term Multi-Year Renewable Appointment. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
