The Art Department at Alma College invites applications for a full-time tenure track position in graphic design or digital art beginning in August of 2021.
The successful candidate should have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts context and welcome opportunities for mentoring student research and/or supporting applied learning experiences. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in graphic design, digital art, and 2D art that serve students in both the Art Major and the New Media Studies Major. The ability to teach courses in animation and/or user experience design would be a plus. All faculty teach courses in both their areas of expertise and courses that meet the needs of our general education curriculum. Teaching load is six courses per year. Faculty in the Art Department work collaboratively across campus, embrace experiential learning, and seek vital connections at the intersection of theory and practice. An MFA or other related terminal degree is expected prior to start date; the committee would also consider candidates with relevant industry experience.
Applicants should submit the following materials: letter of application that includes a statement of the candidate’s commitment to working in an institution that promotes diversity, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, artist’s statement, and 20 images of personal work to Megan Brown at email@example.com. Three confidential letters of reference should be sent under separate cover. Review of applications will begin March 1, 2021 and continue until the position is filled.
